LONDON – 22 July 2025 — Charities, membership organisations, and non-profits are being urged to rethink how they approach digital transformation as Mike Potter, former Chief Digital Officer for the UK Government, is confirmed as the keynote speaker for this year’s TechSmart NFP 2025.
The high-profile event takes place on Tuesday 23rd September 2025 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London, St Pauls, and is expected to attract over 250 senior leaders from across the non-profit and membership sectors.
Potter, who has led major digital programmes across HMRC, the NHS, and multiple central government departments, will open the conference with a keynote titled “Success by Design.” The session will challenge sector leaders to embrace clarity, product thinking, and people-centred approaches—regardless of budget size.
“If you can transform services at the scale of government, you can apply those same principles—often more effectively—in not-for-profits,”
says Potter.
“It’s not about big budgets. It’s about clarity of purpose, product thinking, and involving people from the start.”
Drawing on his experience leading NHS Blood and Transplant’s donor engagement strategy and pioneering user-led systems across government, Potter will offer practical insights for achieving sustainable digital change in mission-driven environments.
“Mike brings credibility that few can match,”
said Alan Perestrello, Managing Director at Hart Square, the consultancy delivering TechSmart.
“He’s done the hard work of transformation, from inside massive systems like the NHS and HMRC to smaller, more agile organisations. His message for our sector? You don’t need to wait for perfect conditions. You just need to start—with clarity, collaboration, and courage.”
From Inspiration to Implementation
