Leading consulting and education company Step8Up Academy has backed cancer charity Walk The Walk’s very first BNI quiz night with a generous raffle prize.
On its inaugural event, which raised an impressive total of £1,200 on the night, Walk The Walk received a business development workshop from Step8Up as a prize worth £999, which aims to help founders accelerate growth.
The team from Step8Up, which works with businesses to upskill and reskill employees to help them learn and grow, joined the charity’s volunteers and staff at New Haw Community Centre, along with local businesses, families and friends for a fast-paced quiz.
Walk the Walk works to raise awareness of breast cancer – including through its groundbreaking campaign “Men Get Breast Cancer Too”. The charity is best known as the organiser of its flagship overnight MoonWalk fundraising events in London and Scotland.
Those taking part in Walk the Walk’s events raise funds for cancer prevention and research, and for the emotional and physical care of those living with cancer. The charity has raised in excess of £145 million to date.
Jan Treacher-Evans, Head of Fundraising at Walk The Walk said: “This is the very first quiz night we’ve run with the BNI network and it’s been a big success. Part of our mission is to promote just how important lifestyle choices are when it comes to preventing some cancers, so we even threw in a round on health and fitness!”
“We’re immensely grateful to Step8Up for getting involved and donating such a great prize. We couldn’t run events like our quiz without the support of others.”
Step8Up CEO Jeev Sahoo said: “I’ve taken part in a virtual MoonWalk in the past and I’d highly recommend taking part. They’re uplifting, energising and for a very worthy cause. I’m proud of be a big supporter of Walk The Walk and I look forward to continuing to work with the charity in the future.”
